Come for strings, song and a tapestry of a film on Thursday evening 15th: Ailsa Mair (cello, bass viola de gamba, vocals) and Samia Malik (singer in English and Urdu), both of whom previously collaborated with the late Sianed Jones. Sianed and Ailsa previously performed at NAWR in Swansea and Hay as Tinc y Tannau, a popular viol duo who played their own compositions as well as reworking traditional and medieval pieces.
Film Cân Elenydd was a collaboration between Sianed Jones (composing), her mother visual artist Mary Lloyd Jones, video artist Jacob Whittaker, and live artist improviser Maria Hayes. Cân Elenydd takes the audience on a journey into the past via the present through song and ritual.
The anticipated 2020 film tour was to include NAWR at the Globe in Hay and we wanted to not just honour this but also start back our first full concert series since COVID with an event in memory of Sianed’s vivacity and warmth as a person and consummate creativity and excellence as a musician. There will be a collection for Cancer Research UK.
