"Y Brodyr Peryglus" / "Russ Grant & Lyndon Owen"

Y brodyr peryglus are a duo of sonic manipulators with a long history. The brothers in peril are Tim Beckham (electronic guitar) and Simon Sanders (percussive electrickery). They will be performing their “Water Music” compositions. Bound together by molecules of hydrogen and oxygen, “Water Music” explores the depths of the ocean, ice giants on the move, ebb and flow as a constraint, and rhythms and cycles that propel our perception. Expect an experience that is both subtle and extreme. Immersed in a tapestry of moving waters, the instrumentation is both familiar and strange, conjuring moisture out of the very air.

Improv guitarist & composer Russ Grant's current activity rests in the LliFT ensemble (recently featured in a Ty Cerrd film on YouTube) and three volumes with Eyeskreem, released on the Belgian "Off" label (latest release 1st May 2026). Before his move to Wales he worked in various Frakture (a Free Improv organisation) ensembles in Greater Merseyside, including supporting Alexander Shlippenbach and Eddie Prevost.  Russ also composed a piece included in the NW Jazzworks "Real Book North West", recognised as a key document in the development of British Jazz in the early 2000's. Russ' live performances draw upon a breadth of obvious and obscure influences  to suit the scene the sound and the soul of things.

Russ and Lyndon met, and found a close synergy, at some of the Llift sessions in Bangor- it seemed an obvious route to play together and explore the new horizons this may throw our way. Whilst Lyndon curates NAWR Aberystwyth, his multi-instrumental acoustic playing is seen and heard in many different modes. ranging from being  actively part of the Herefordshire Free Improvisors to working with the group of worldwide players,  Intercellular Jazz Collective.

This evening is supported by Ty Cerdd, Bank Vault, Arts Council of Wales, National Lottery and Gwrandewch.

Admission is free but a collection is taken.
